Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, is set to declare his intention to seek a second term in office.
It was gathered that, the ruling party in Akwa Ibom, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been organizing several political meetings and rallies in the state since Senator, Godswill Akpabio, defected a few days ago from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection of Akpabio, a former governor of the state, is seen as a major threat to the governor’s re-election.
Governor Emmanuel’s declaration, on the platform of the PDP, would bring an end to speculations that he was planning to defect to the APC.
However, the governor’s adviser on politics, Mr. Ekong Sampson, dismissed the speculations as being absolutely untrue.
