Australia derails train at high speed over driver’s absence

A freight train has been deliberately derailed after hurtling through Western Australia at high speed for 50 minutes without its driver.

Reports say, the 268-wagon train,  travelled for 92 kilometres with no-one on board in the outback Pilbara region.

The company said it had derailed the train remotely from Perth, adding that it has since suspended its rail operations.

In a statement released by the Australian transport safety, it was revealed that no-one was injured when the train, carrying iron ore, was derailed.

They added that invetigation has begun.
