A customary court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has ordered an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in the state, Samuel Omoare to pay a sum of 500,000 naira to his wife, Toyin Omoare as a refund of money he borrowed from her to fund his electionering campaign in 2015.
Omoare, who was charged to court by his wife had earlier appeared in court after he denied borrowed money he collected through his wife, thereby, seeking divorce between them over allegatiopn of being a trouble maker and threat of life against the wife.
The wife said her husband has pushed her to debt running millions of naira which he collected before and during his electionering process from micro finance bank, in bid to become the Chairman, Akoko South-West Local Government in 2015, but eventually failed at the primary stage.
Delivering his judgment, President of the Court, R.F. Olusanya said his initial denial could no longer hold water as all papers presented before the court bore Omoare’s names and data which he was given including the photocopies of his landed documents he submitted as collateral for the loan.
Olusanya thereby ordered the APC chieftain to refund 500,000 naira to his wife within the next 30 days adding that he has a chance to appeal the judgment but, the money must have been paid before the appeal.
