It’s Reporters Diary with Oludolapo Adewale @mc_dollypee and Rita Omodia @omodiarita. Question:Today we are looking at corruption in the health sector. The EFCC has arrested seven officials in the Federal Ministry of Health for their alleged role in the diversion of over $4m given to Nigeria by an international financing organisation, Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
The agency alleged that the workers misappropriated the funds through inflating hotel bills, falsifying receipts, claiming expenditures for travel not made, among others. Consequently, Global Fund has stopped disbursing funds to Nigeria. Analysts say this does not portray the country well in the comity of nations. What is the best way to plug loopholes in Government agencies especially when it comes to International funding. How best can corruption be tackled in the health sector.Lend your voice here or call 08100000936 or 08110000558
