Five delegates to Niger Delta summit die in auto crash

About five delegates going to the second National Council meeting of the Niger Delta holding in Igbokoda, in Okitipupa Local Government Areas of Ondo State have reportedly lost their lives.

The delegates whose identities were not yet ascertained were travelling from Akure to Igbokoda for the summit which Vice President Yemi Osibanjo was to chair.

About four other delegates were injured in the accident that occurred at Ode-Age a sleepy town along Okitipupa- Igbokoda road.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state who confirmed the accident said it was caused by high speed.

He said three vehicles were involved in the accident adding that the vehicles were damaged beyond recognition.

The PRO also confirmed that the corpses had been deposited at the mortuary of the State specialist hospital Okitipupa where the injured victims were also receiving treatment.
