Nigeria army begins investigation into Chibok shooting

The military authorities have launched an investigation into a fatal shooting involving an army captain and a non-commissioned officer deployed to Chibok, Borno State.

It was reported that the army unit received a distress call that a Sergeant, under the influence of alcohol, was assaulting civilians at a nearby location.

The Director of Army Relations, Brig-Gen Sani Usman, in a press statement, said its 26 brigade received a report of the soldier, who was reported to be drunk.

Although Usman said a board of inquiry has been put up to unravel the circumstance surrounding the unfortunate shooting, he noted that the board had been given a week to submit its report.
