Newly sworn in Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide George, says that the impeachment exercise carried out by 18 members of the assembly remains irreversible despite all efforts to intimidate them.
George stated this during a press conference in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, where he spoke on the crisis rocking the assembly, stating that the impeachment was an in-house exercise which has constitutional backing.
The new speaker who led 15 other members called on the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to take their petition seriously and take measures for the protection of lives and property against hoodlums to avoid chaos in the town.
It would be recalled that the 18 lawmakers had on Friday, impeached Hon Bamidele Oloyelogun and Hon. Ogundeji Iroju, the speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
