The legal battle over the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has continued in the Supreme Court as the councils to the 2 factions of the party have announced their intentions in the nation’s highest court.
The Ahmed Markarfi faction had approached the apex court to repeal the judgement of the Appeal Court in Port Harcourt which pronounced Ali Modu Sheriff as the chairman of the party.
The Supreme Court had fixed today for the continuation of the hearing of the case after listening to the arguments of the appeal challenging the ruling.
The leadership tussel began in May 2016 after a Lagos Divisional High Court ordered the party not to go ahead with its planned national convention.
Mr Sheriff had approached the court to stop the event. Since then, all efforts to broker peace has been unsuccessful.
