Protesters storm Police Headquarters in Abuja to protest release of detained journalist

Several protesters have stormed the Police Headquarters in Abuja to demand the release of a Premium Times journalist, Samuel Ogundipe.

Led by Deji Adeyanju and Charles Oputa of the our Mumu Done Do Movement, the protesters defied stern gun-wielding police officers to carry out the protest, asking that the journalist be released immediately.

According to reports, Mr Ogundipe was arrested and detained on Tuesday for refusing to disclose his source for a story.

The detention of the journalist has been condemned by local and international rights groups including Amnesty International and Committee to Protect Journalists.
