White House denies allegation of Trump seeking FBI Chief to drop Flynn inquiry

Report says President Donald Trump has asked FBI Chief James Comey to drop an inquiry into links between his former National Security Adviser and Russia.

According to a memo written by the ex-FBI Director immediately after a White House meeting in February a day after Michael Flynn resigned Mr Trump had reportedly told Mr Comey let go of the inquiry.

But the White House has denied the allegation saying the President has never asked Mr Comey or anyone else to end any investigation.

In the meantime, an influential republican congressman has called for the FBI to hand over all relevant documents within a week.

The House Oversight Committee Chairperson Jason Chaffetz has demanded all correspondence relating to communications between Mr Comey and the President be presented by 24 May.
