The Former Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transportation in Ebonyi, Dr Paul Okorie, has decried the low rate of collection of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the state.

Okorie, also a Former Commissioner of Environment under former Gov. Martin Elechi, revealed this in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki.

He was reacting to the statement credited to Ebonyi Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Godswill Obioma about low rate of PVCs collection in the state.

Obioma said that only 6025 PVCs, out of the over 77,000 PVCs of the 2017 continuous voter registration (CVR) released by the electoral body for Ebonyi had so far been collected.

The INEC boss urged stakeholders, political parties, traditional rulers and community leaders to step up sensitisation efforts on the PVCs collection.
