The Honourable Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Sam Egube, has called on the citizens of Lagos State to partner with the State government in its efforts to meet their needs and provide necessary infrastructures for improved standards of living.
Egube, who made the call on Friday during his appearance on a Lagos Television programme tagged: ‘Lagos Today’, said the citizens must also support the government in bringing its set goals and objectives to reality through prompt payment of taxes.
He averred that one of the ways the present administration is encouraging citizens’ participation in governance was the recent consultative forum held across the five divisions of the State to seek stakeholders’ inputs in the 2021 budget process.
Egube disclosed that opinions expressed by Lagosians have been collated and will guide in formulating an ideal budget for approval.
Declaring that this administration is determined to focus more on the areas of infrastructure, empowerment, employment and food security in the post-COVID-19 period, Egube gave an assurance that all ongoing projects will soon be completed for the benefit of the masses.
The Commissioner pointed out that the ongoing Rice Mill project at Imota, the planned establishment of a Food Production Centre in Badagry and an Aquaculture Centre in Epe are some of the projects that are aimed at improving the welfare of Lagosians.
“On completion, these projects and many others that are too numerous to mention, will not only improve food production and supply but will also provide jobs for over 300,000 individuals across the five divisions of the State”, he said.
